In 2013, the city of Niš will celebrate, as the host, the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan issued by the emperor Constantine the Great in Naissus (today's Niš) in 313. Our city has a rich heritage from the Roman period, and this website presents only some of the characteristic details, in light of the current events...
The dominant motif on all pages of this website is the bronze fence with busts of deities, found in Mediana, in Niš, in 2000. It dates back to the 4th century AD. Even though it was not constructed in this region, it is assumed that it was brought at the request of the great emperor to his summer palace, where it was recently discovered.
Among other things, a large number of mosaics with geometric motifs and representations of  Roman deities have been found in the Archaeological Park Mediana. It is well known that the mosaic was one of the favourite artistic techniques in that period in Rome. Therefore, symbolically, the front page of the website features a picture of a mosaic with the motifs of notable sights in Niš, which was designed and created by the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Niš, in 2011, and which is located in one of the main pedestrian streets in the city.
The green colour brings freshness, the same one which has been introduced by constructive mathematics and its varieties to mathematics in general and all those areas in which it is applied.
